Tatiana Ruhl
Tatiana Ruhl is an established tennis player with many years of training under her belt. Her love and passion of the sport can easily be seen while she is coaching or playing a match. Magnolia West is excited to welcome her back to her alma matter as Coach Ruhl.
Tatiana graduated from Magnolia West in 2014 with honors and was proud to be the first female in Magnolia West's history to claim the title of Tennis District Champion. She trained at many iconic facilities such as Giammalva Raquet Club and Huber Tennis Ranch. Ultimately, she credits her success to her juniors coach, Vern Swisher. Tatiana spent countless hours on the court with Coach Swisher, perfecting her game, and committing herself to the process. She became a USTA Superchamp and was recruited to play Division I college tennis where she also received an academic and athletic scholarship.
While at Prairie View A&M Tatiana deepened her skills under the tutorage of Coach John Cochran and Coach Duane Williams. After playing for 2 years with PVAMU Tatiana became Captain during her Junior and Senior year. She led her team to the SWAC conference Championships. The Prairie View Team had gone the farthest they had in the many years of the university's history. During this time UTR jumped onto the tennis scene. Tatiana's highest rating was a 7.5 although she was winning games against women who had UTR's above hers.
Tatiana graduated from her university with a bachelors in music education while receiving honors as summa cum laude. Her passion for music was as much prevalent as her love for tennis. She returned to her home town to teach elementary music at Nichols Sawmill Elementary where she was chosen to receive the title Rookie of the Year after her first 2 years of teaching.
Tatiana is excited to start her coaching career back at Magnolia West High School where it all seemed to start. She plans to challenge her players and build the Mustangs to be an unstoppable force.
